Austin City Council has passed the resolution. With 3 of the council abstaining, the resolution passed 4-0. Thanks to Jackie Goodman for sponsoring the resolution and all the other council members who supported it. Thanks to everyone who came out and fought to get this resolution passed. The ABORDC is a local effort based in Austin, Texas to oppose the USA Patriot Act as well as other unconstitutional legislation. We encourage everyone who is concerned about this issue to join our cause. See our schedule for information about upcoming events. With Austin's recent passage of the resolution, this now brings the reported number to 3 states and 179 cities, towns and communities that have passed resolutions protecting the civil liberties of their residents. These numbers are the BORDC's numbers and it should be noted that there most likely are many more communities that have passed similar resolutions.
